		<description>Triggered by the new MTV logo, the focus of the brand refresh 
was to build on the stand-out characteristics of the first-ever 
global rebrand in 2009. 




At its core is a closer alignment of the brand to our show content 
as well as a design evolution across all media. Essentially a flexible 
brand tool kit – smart and adaptable, whilst still full of personality.

		<description>Identity and show package for the annual MTV event.

Starting from the root – when a music artist puts pen to paper.. 
all the way through to the red carpet rolling across the city, we 
unravel every layer  of anticipation, activity, glamour and hype 
that makes up the EMA’s. Think of ‘Bieber-Fever’ and then add 
that to the sum of the rest of the ‘parts’ which encompass 
this event and it’s  build up.

The Zoetrope device encapsulates this vision.  It is multi-layered 
in its very nature with a rhythm and synergy between the many 
elements. The perfect visualisation of ‘organised chaos’.

Due to the need for global appeal, ‘Planet EMA’ was the 
chosen direction to lead all areas of the show’s creative. 
Through the process, we defined this more accurately as 
a futuristic ‘arena’. Inspired by the logo design and a mix 
of retro futuristic visions, all elements were connected by 
a core concept of ‘pin-ball’ spheres doing battle within 
this arena.

The proposal was to take the iconic ‘Pin art’ concept and 
apply it to the notion that MTV helps to push talented people 
and give them the ability to make an impact or literally make 
an ‘impression’. The ‘hero’ idea would take these pin art 
sculptural forms and render them into scenarios that pertains 
to a gesture or rite of passage on the journey to stardom.
